On Saturday, March 14, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm, the museum will be hosting a book signing and exhibition walkthrough with me and my niece Lauren at the Vincent Price Art Museum in support of Yolanda González: Sueño de Familia, Dream of Family.
This exhibition celebrates the loving memories of my mother, “YOLA” (Mexico, 1930 — 2020), my great grandfather Juan Nepomuceno López (Mexico, 1860 – 1940), and my grandmother Margarita “Mague” López Ibarra (Mexico, 1906 – 1999).
What a dream this has been, I am so very grateful for this inspiring opportunity to feature over 150 years of art-making by my Mexican-American family including Lauren and myself too.
The support of AltaMed made this all possible. Thank you to Cástulo de la Rocha and Zoila D. Escobar for making this exhibition and museum catalog possible.
Thank you to Pilar Tompkins Rivas, museum director, who curated, wrote, and edited the show and book.
Yolanda González: Sueño de Familia, Dream of Family, is a beautiful book featuring 112 pages, 134 illustrations, written history, and curator statements, and wonderfully packaged by Mark Murphy Design. Get your hands on the book soon, as there are only 500 copies and 25 limited edition volumes packaged in one of a kind boxes.
If you can not make March 14, please send someone in your place, or head over to the Vincent Price Art Museum. It means the world, and thank you so much for your kind support. (VPAM opening, exhibition introduction).
