Latina Leaders & Icons: The David Damian Figueroa Collection
Wednesday, October 3, 2012
4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
CSRC Library – 144 Haines Hall
Latina Leaders & Icons is an exhibition at the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center Library that highlights the contributions of women to Chicana/o and Latina/o history, art, and culture. As David Damian Figueroa began to conceptualize this exhibit, it became apparent to him that because many works in his collection reflect the lives and contributions of numerous women in our community, the exhibit could also serve as a tribute to the amazing Latina women who have influenced and inspired his own activist and artistic career. This exhibition draws from Mr. Figueroa’s personal art collection as well as his archival collection housed at the CSRC Library. The exhibition runs September 15, 2012 – October 15, 2012.
