I was introduced Self Help Graphics by Arturo Urista in the early 80’s.
I had been attending Pasadena Art Center, taking classes from Peter Liaskov one of the teachers I was most inspired by.
The first class I attended at SHG was Yriena Cervantes watercolor class.
I was inspired by her manner and her Art! I learned about a female artist named Frida Kahlo. Life Painting was the next class i took taught by Eloy Torrez, and a Painting Class by Pattsi Valdez. I was so in awe by the Artists I worked with.
I knew when I walked through the doors of SHG my life had changed as it had the first time I walked through the doors at Pasadena Art Center.
Then I was introduced to the Silkscreen process where I worked with Oscar Duardo.
The Master Printer I have worked with for the past 15 years or so is Joe Alpuchi.

Last week when I walked in to the new space where SHG has moved to I was so inspired by the possibilities.
To see the Metro Link stop right in front is a sign that SHG has found its new home.
Sunday June 26,2011 I will be creating on the spot Silkscreen Monoprints for Sale! 1pm-4pm
